Description
The SOL 3D Scanner from Scan Dimension is a compact plug-and-play desktop scanner that combines laser triangulation and white-light capture to deliver textured 3D scans with up to 0.1 mm accuracy. An automatic rotating turntable makes full 360° scans largely hands-free.
SOL is aimed at makers, educators, designers and hobbyists who need an affordable, easy-to-use scanner. Scans can be exported as OBJ/STL/PLY/DAE/XYZ and the scanner connects via USB 3.0. For full technical details see the official datasheet.

Review: The SOL delivers excellent value for its price: setup is quick, calibration and meshing are automated, and the included software makes exporting straightforward. It’s not a high-end metrology system, but for rapid prototyping, 3D printing and scanning small objects it performs very well.
