Quick review
The DS423 delivers an excellent mix of features, ease of use and reliability at its price point. DSM and Btrfs add strong data-protection tools and flexible apps, while four drive bays allow for robust RAID configurations. The limited 2 GB non-upgradeable memory may constrain very heavy workloads.

Pros

• Intuitive DSM interface and rich app ecosystem
• Btrfs support with snapshots for data protection
• Four-bay design for flexible RAID setups

Cons

• Only 2 GB of system RAM and not user-expandable
• Gigabit Ethernet only (no 2.5/10 GbE onboard)
